Puerto Rico

We would be happy to share a Puerto Rican celebration with those who can come to San Juan. This will take place a few weeks after the French wedding, from August the 17th to August the 26th.   We will provide the housing on a first come first serve basis, so all you have to worry about is the flight and expenses during your stay.  We still have rooms available.  This will be much more casual with a beach wedding/fiesta near Coqui del Mar, and a Caribbean cruise for those interested.  The cruise departs Fort Lauderdale (near Miami) for one week (until September 2nd) visiting Nassau, Cozumel, Roatan (Honduras), and Playa Carmen (Mexico).

Basic info on Puerto Rico:

About Hurricane Maria….now in April 2018, life in the capitol area is back to pretty much normal.  There are still many areas that do not have electricity, and some still without running water, but these are not in the capitol area.

Fights to Puerto Rico and the best place to start to look for flights: Google Flights.    The airport code is SJU.  Our guest house is 10 minutes drive from SJU airport.  Set up a flight alert to signal you automatically when prices drop.  Google flights look at many airlines (but not all airlines):

Then, check the lowcost airlines that Google flights does not incorporate :

  • Condor airlines has flights from Frankfurt and Stuttgart direct to San Juan from around 400 Euros : www.condor.com
  • Norwegian airlines also flies direct to San Juan from cities such as London and Oslo.  Some flights as little as $169 one way: www.norwegian.com
  • If you cannot find direct flights, you can also book a flight on Norwegian to cities in the USA such as Boston, NYC, Orlando or Miami, and then book a JETBLUE, American or Delta flight from Boston to San Juan.  www.jetblue.com  www.aa.com   www.delta.com
  • There are occasionally good deals on flights to Guadalupe or Martinique from Paris, or to the British Virgin Islands from London.  You can check Air France, XL airlines, and British Airways, specifically.

It may make sense to fly to Frankfurt, London or to Guadalupe and then take a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Another option is to fly round trip to NYC.  From NYC you can find reasonable flights to San Juan.  For example, today, October 23rd, I found a roundtrip flight to NYC for 323 Euros.  From NYC/Boston/Miami/Orlando you should be able to find a flight for about $200 or less each way.

If you do a layover city with a different airline, than make sure to give yourself enough time in the layover city (in case your first leg is delayed or cancelled).

If anyone finds a good deal, please feel free to share.
